How you can help

Mid Wales Food and Land Trust is led by a group of committed volunteers who want to rebuild a strong local food culture based on the following principles:

  • Good quality, fresh, locally produced food readily available for all
  • Consumers who understand about food, how it is produced, how to grow it and cook it
  • High standards of animal welfare offering full traceability throughout the production process
  • Producers willing to talk honestly and openly to customers about the products and their methods of production
  • Consumers helping to support a strong local and regional economy by supporting local businesses
  • Individuals and communities making positive consumer choices to bring local benefits and control against global marketing companies
  • Individuals and communities able to grow and cook fresh, seasonal food from scratch, making the most of our local environment and seasons
  • Individuals joining together in social enterprises to tackle local needs at local level.

The Trust receives no core funding – all our activities require grant funding to support
their delivery.

You may be able to help in one of the following ways

As a Director of the Board
We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join the Board, bringing fresh skills and ideas. Membership of the Board is voluntary. Minimum commitment is attendance at quarterly Board meetings, though many of the Directors are actively involved in project sub groups and direct voluntary action on projects.

As a Tutor on our CHEFS Project
We need more tutors to deliver our cookery courses – if you are a passionate cook, keen on local foods, and want to share your passion with others, please contact the office for an informal discussion.

As a Volunteer
Many of our projects are suitable for volunteer involvement, so if you are interested in any aspect of our work and want to offer a few hours of help, please contact the office (Please note we will need to undertake a CRB check for any volunteers in contact with children or vulnerable adults through Trust activities).

As a Funder
All of our projects require funding to cover the staff time, expenses and materials required to deliver them. If you are a funding body and may be interested in funding any aspect of our work in your area, please contact the office.
